Revisiting V
*****spoilers ahead*****
Some of the creepiest TV moments from my childhood (aside from sitcoms having that requisite “special show” pedophile episode) revolve around the sci-fi cult classic “V”. From the craptacular special effects, the claymation Diana deep throating a guinea pig or Robin giving birth to a scaly puppet with a grunting problem, (when I was 7-8 years old some of the effects were pretty scary). Tonight ABC premiered a re-boot of the classic and the update seems to hold its own. The major roles have been adequately cast, the major drama this time around is focused in New York and in keeping with the times theres alot of talk of sleeper cells and national security. I do appreciate how this version makes the claim that the visitors have already been on earth for some time and have already placed themselves into society in all kinds of roles. Somethings I don’t miss, the dated red jumpsuit with the “Thriller” jacket top, the modulated voices from the visitors.
I’m Super thanks for asking!!
I don’t know what’s with me today, I guess I just wanted to pay tribute to two of the most “out”landish and flamboyant confirmed bachelors who ever graced a stage during the 60’s and 70’s (with apologies to Tiny Tim)
Take a quick look to the right, it doesn’t get any snazzier than a velvet painting of Charles Nelson Reilly.. I remember watching Charles on repeats of Lidsville and around different tv shows.
The second of course is Paul Lynde who along with CNR mastered the ascot on many game show sound stages throughout the 60’s and 70’s. Many of you might remember him as Uncle Arthur from Bewitched.
Top 70’s Sitcoms
before I start I’d like to first note that I was born in 76 so my thoughts might not be valid to most of you on this particular post
1. All in the Family, whats not to love about a grumpy old racist from Queens. Archie said such extreme things and provoked discussion while doing so.
2. What’s Happening, the misadventures of three best friends in 1970’s Los Angeles.
3. Threes Company, edgy for its time and my outright favorite sitcom, the late John Ritter absolutly shined in this ensemble of sometimes rotating characters.
4. Good Times, widely panned by some for Jimmie Walkers character JJ, I actually enjoyed this show
5. Diff’rent Strokes/Facts of Life, other than the sometimes outdated dialogue (“Turkey”), I found both of these shows very interesting.
Top 5 List

Kirk Cameron before he found the Lord
one man can make a difference.. in cheeseland!
when I was a child of six, I liked what most six year olds liked. This includes the world of Knight Rider. So it was a no brainer that I would watch NBC’s much hyped Knight Rider revival. This 2008 tv-movie seems more like a 2 hour Ford commercial, from Val Kilmers over dub of Kitt to the unnatural dialogue, this movie was just too corny. But for the sake of nostalgia it did fulfill a little bit of nostalgic longing. I guess when compared to David Hasselhoff’s crap-tastic dialogue from the original show this movie doesn’t stray too far. I still consider myself a fan, the Hoff not withstanding
Optimus Rosenthal
I saw this and thought I’d snag it, to give the site credit you can visit them at
Hanging Tough… still
ya know, In my 8th grade yearbook I ended my little 13 year olds blurb with NKOTB sucks, or something to that effect, but that was about 18 or so years ago. As I have set my pre-teen anger aside I have to congratulate Bostons Fab 5 on their Apparent Reunion Tour..
