just another day

…dealing with it

the bulk of my sadness and lament has come from being in a not so ideal work situation. so the end result?  limiting the exsisting situation and taking on a new situation. What do I mean by that? well.. the situation that I didnt like I have possibly turned that into a part time situation and have taken on a new responsibility full time.

Is it ideal? no, will it meet the need? yes .. and what will the end result be? possible burn out but possible peace

Where do you stand?

Recently.. here in FL, state law makers have passed a law allowing registered gun owners to lawfully keep their guns in their cars when they are at work. I don’t know where to begin.. honestly, it seems kind of funny that this all occurred just mere days after the death of Charlton Heston. ,.. The 2nd amendment was written more than 230 years ago, we live in a different society, a society that has identified mental illnesses. This same society has very lax gun laws in most states that allows degenerates and some mental defects to get their hands on a gun.  …. Now I understand , a gun has saved the life of many a civilian, officer, soldier, but think of the far too many children, store clerks or workers that were in the wrong place at the wrong time…. all because someone had a bad day and just so happened to have a gun with them.

But I digress, haven’t there been too many disgruntled worker shootings? It seems like FL is setting a very bad precedent.

All good things

life feels different when you’re relaxed (at least some what). it definitely feels different once the purposes have changed.

For my own best interests I can’t divulge too much but needless to say … happy days are here again … :)

Super Sad

if most of you are familiar with basic american cable then you might have come across this ASPCA commercial that starts off with the Sarah McLachlan song “Angel”, it then turns into a gut wrenching array of poor little animal faces that convey so much sadness. The most heart wrenching shot is what I suppose is a Pekingese mix with some damage to his eye, complete with what I believe is mucous or tear stains.. now I fully support them in their efforts but couldn’t they find another way to ask for our support? Again, let me reiterate, I know that animal abuse is a serious thing but it’s supposed to be a commercial

Top 70’s Sitcoms

before I start I’d like to first note that I was born in 76 so my thoughts might not be valid to most of you on this particular post

1. All in the Family, whats not to love about a grumpy old racist from Queens. Archie said such extreme things and provoked discussion while doing so.

2. What’s Happening, the misadventures of three best friends in 1970’s Los Angeles.

3. Threes Company, edgy for its time and my outright favorite sitcom, the late John Ritter absolutly shined in this ensemble of sometimes rotating characters.

4. Good Times, widely panned by some for Jimmie Walkers character JJ, I actually enjoyed this show

5. Diff’rent Strokes/Facts of Life, other than the sometimes outdated dialogue (“Turkey”), I found both of these shows very interesting.

Microsoft and Yahoo?

the general fact that Microsoft will inevitably merge, mount, ransack and plunder Yahoo scares me. It is scary enough that most PCs operate with Windows, scary enough that Microsoft owns XBOX, ZUNE. But why did they have to mess with Yahoo? I’m all set to cancel my yahoo and switch my important emails to another server

Conversations with the past

This past Monday I had the pleasure of seeing a one man show presented by the Florida Humanities Council and the local NPR station.  Charla, A Chat with Jose Marti.  My words wouldn’t do it justice,  Jose Marti, masterfully portrayed by Chaz Mena, engages the audience in an enlightened discussion about Cuba’s past as well as present. The ultimate message delivered by Jose Marti is universal and reaches out to any nationality and both genders, about love, patriotism, keeping an open mind and being optimistic.

The Downward Spiral

I’ve said it over and over aaand over again, American Idol is turning into an awkward parody of itself. Theme weeks, guest artists, the “call-in” segment. Now mind you, I’m aware this isn’t masterpiece theater, or a fine vocal approximation thereof. The new low was Dolly Week, I suppose it’s set up in order to showcase the contestants “range”, but it just came off as awkward.

In the long run I guess this programming is pulling off what the producers intended as far as people talking/blogging about it. In my opinion, A.I. jumped the shark weeks ago.
